Live from Schaumburg, Illinois…

July 15th, 2004

Well, like I said, a lot has been going on! Yesterday, Mandy Murphey from Fox 2 News came over to do a feature on the family and, more specifically, my mom’s recent miscarriage. That all went really well. They interviewed Mom, Dad, Paul and Mark, and they also videotaped the family doing various thing, such as playing softball. As Mandy and her cameraman were leaving our house, they mentioned that Skyfox, the Fox 2 News helicopter, might fly out to get an aerial video of the family playing softball. So we went out on our field and started hitting the ball around when we heard this faint thumping of a helicopter’s propeller. The chopper emerged from behind the trees, and circled our land several times as we played softball. After a few minutes of the helicopter flying above us and circling around, it finally took off and flew back towards St. Louis.

It was definitely a unique experience! Who would have thought that a news helicopter would be dispatched to fly above our property?! God is truly amazing. We haven’t seen the feature yet, but I would imagine that the helicopter view is going to look very neat. I’m excited to see it air!

Now… why am I on the road? Well, Paul has a few all-day video depositions up here in the Chicago area, and Mom and Dad suggested that the four oldest go and make a fun little trip out of it. So far it has been fun! We left around 3:50 in the morning on Thursday, drove five hours straight and arrived here in Schaumburg, Illinois, which is about 35 minutes from the Windy City. We’re staying here until Monday, and hopefully we’ll be able to stop by Chicago and get some pictures and video of the area. I’ll keep you posted!

I need to head off to bed, though, since I’m so tired! I only slept for a half-hour last night before getting up at 3:00 in the morning to hit the road.

Stay tuned for more updates… :-)
