Archos pictures

September 19th, 2004

Well, I did it! Yesterday (which was a very, very busy day, by the by) I went to RadioShack, bought a condenser microphone for $3.96, and said microphone is now soldered onto my MP3 player and works wonderfully! I have some pictures of the Archos…

Broken ScreenThis is a picture of the Archos with its broken LCD screen.New MicrophoneThat silver thing sticking out is the new condenser mic. The black and red wires go inside the MP3 player, where they are soldered to the board.Archos With The MicA picture of the Archos with the new mic in place. It sticks out a little bit, but it really isn’t too bad.Close-UpA close-up picture of the microphone and the LCD screen with the backlight on.

I hope you enjoyed! I’m very happy to have my MP3 player working well, and I’ve got to say that I think the new microphone is an upgrade from the old one. Now, one question that may arise is why did I put the new microphone on the outside of the unit instead of inside, where the original one was? Well, see, there was a problem with that design. The old microphone, whenever I recorded with it, would constantly pick up the noises that the built-in hard drive and such make. That means that there was always a clicking, a whirring, a high-pitched sound present on the audio recordings. So a move of the microphone to outside the case seems to have solved that problem. :)
