Homesick
By MercyMe:
You’re in a better place, I’ve heard a thousand times
And at least a thousand times I’ve rejoiced for you
But the reason why I’m broken, the reason why I cry
Is how long must I wait to be with you
I close my eyes and I see your face
If home’s where my heart is then I’m out of place
Lord, won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
I’ve never been more homesick than now
Help me Lord cause I don’t understand your ways
The reason why I wonder if I’ll ever know
But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same
Cause I’m still here so far away from home
I close my eyes and I see your face
If home’s where my heart is then I’m out of place
Lord, won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
I’ve never been more homesick than now
In Christ, there are no goodbye
And in Christ, there is no end
So I’ll hold onto Jesus with all that I have
To see you again
To see you again
And I close my eyes and I see your face
If home’s where my heart is then I’m out of place
Lord, won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
Won’t you give me strength to make it through somehow
I’ve never been more homesick than now
Dancing With The Angels by Monk & Neagle:
Memories surround me
But sadness has found me
I’d do anything for more time
Never before has someone meant more
And I can’t get you out of my mind
There is so much that I don’t understand
But I know
Chorus:
You’re dancing with the angels
Walking in new life
You’re dancing with the angels
Heaven fills your eyes
Now that you’re dancing with the angels
You had love for your family
Love for all people
Love for the Father, and Son
Your heart will be heard
In you unspoken words
Through generations to come
There is so much that I don’t understand
But I know
Chorus
Bridge:
We’re only here for such a short time
So I’m gonna stand up
Shout out
And sing Hallelujah
One day I’ll see you again
The second song is especially touching, as Elizabeth loved to dance. I’ve just got to believe that she’s dancing with the angels right now.
With all the busyness lately related to the Montel Show taping and then this trip, it’s been hard to write about this a whole lot.
I want to ask you to, in addition to continue to pray for Elizabeth’s family, to pray for her good friends, Maggie especially. Maggie and her were just great friends, and I’m sure Maggie is really shaken by this all. Please pray that God will just comfort her and heal the pain that she undoubtedly has been feeling from losing one of her best friends. It’s one of those times where I just really wish there was something more I can do to help. My mom was talking with Maggie’s mom the other day, and it’s just heartbreaking to hear about how devastated they are. So please keep them in your prayers as well. Thanks.
I’d also like to challenge you now. Are you ready to go? If you were to get in a fatal car accident tomorrow, would you be ready to go? Not that anyone is planning to die, but we all know that we simply don’t know how many days we have left. And I think we all need to be ready now to go. What I mean by that is a few things.
The most important thing is to ask yourself, “If I die tomorrow, am I 100% that I will be in heaven?” If you are not absolutely positive that your answer will be yes, then you’re basically on a burning plane without a parachute. I’m not trying to scare anyone; just being realistic.
There’s a heaven and a hell. If you were going to spend eternity in one of those two places, then wouldn’t you want to be sure that you were going to heaven? Sadly, though, for people who basically reject or ignore the dilemma that we’re all born into, they’re already destined for hell. So please, if you’re not sure whether or not you’d go to heaven when you die, please do whatever it takes to be sure. We know that it’s not easy.
There is only one way to be saved from the doom of hell, and that is through Jesus Christ. So I’m just going to ask you now — please, if you’re not absolutely sure where you’re going to go when you die, then make sure. I want to see all of my friends in heaven. And I am definitely not the answer man when it comes to questions on eternity or heaven and hell, but I just know that without God’s grace and Jesus’ sacrifice, I would be destined for hell. Feel free to e-mail me or something if you would like to talk. I certainly don’t know everything, but I would be more than happy to share with you what I do know.
On a more practical level, I guess, about being “ready to go,” just live as if you might not ever see somebody again. For instance, it might mean mending some fences with friends or family. It might mean simply spending more time with your family or telling them you love them. Just think about what would be important to you if you learned that your sister, your mom or your best friend had died. You would love to know that you had a great relationship, that you were on great terms — all that. Just remember what really matters! It’s easy to get caught up in thinking about, say, school or a job or our future, but don’t get too caught up in the future that you miss what’s going on right now. Take time to enjoy your life, where God has you right now. You’ll never be this age again. Appreciate what you have! Be thankful.
That about sums up what’s been on my heart the last little bit. I hate the thought of somebody I know dying but, moreover, it would be so much more painful if I didn’t know whether or not they were in heaven. It’s just so vital that you make sure you’ll be there. I want to see you there!
