The new YMCA
I’m a bit late in making this entry. I kept pretty busy yesterday and even into last night, so I just never could find time to post. But now I find myself with a bit of time, so here I go.
Yesterday morning, I spent a couple hours at an attorney’s office, taking care of a few different things relating to his computer network. After the work was finished there, I made a quick trip over to St. Louis in order to drop off this week’s episode of “Safe At Home” at the cable station.
In the early evening, I met up with Paul at the new downtown YMCA, which opened on Monday morning. It looks like quite an improvement, but I think it will take some getting used to. All in all, I bet I’ll like it better than I liked the old Belleville Y. It’ll take time to be able to discern whether I like it over the east Belleville YMCA. Both are really nice, so if one wins out then it’s not by much.
Mark and I have just committed to doing some temporary work at my grandpa’s tool and die business. See, our Uncle Joe (who basically runs all of the operations) was in a bit of a bind, and they need a couple of extra guys for the next couple of weeks. I’m not exactly sure what we’ll be doing, but it will probably be anything from operating presses to packaging finished pieces. Basically, wherever they can use us.
It will be the 3:30-midnight shift, so in a way it won’t intefere with that much… although, I guess we’ll be pretty beat by the time we get home, and we might have to sleep in a little bit longer in order to make up for the late bedtime. So it’s not the most ideal job or anything, but since we’re doing a favor to the family, it makes it worth it. Plus, it will earn a little bit of dough. We plan to start on Monday afternoon. We’ll see how it goes.
