Take the narrow road

February 2nd, 2006

In the morning, John, Philip, and I joined Dad to check out the new Monroe County (Waterloo) YMCA. The drive was pretty pleasant, as we were able to mostly drive on back roads all the way up until the Y’s parking lot.

This facility seems to be a little bit larger than the new downtown Belleville YMCA, but the layout is very similar. I really like it, though, and I might just start visiting this location more than the Belleville ones.

Well, this afternoon’s video deposition was cancelled, so that freed me up to do some more work, such as scoping, editing the “Safe At Home” show, and taking care of a few web design odds and ends.

During our Father’s House service this evening, we talked about Romans 12:21, which says (paraphrasing), “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” To me, that means that not only are we supposed to resist evil, temptations, sinning, but we are also commanded to be moving forward, to be doing good. And I don’t know about you, but I’ve noticed that when I fix my eyes on really trying to serve God in everything, it’s hard to give in to sin.

What’s interesting is that there’s no real middle ground. You can’t really be neutral. Either you’re on God’s side, striving to obey Him, or your not doing that, meaning your rebelling against Him. It kind of ties in with what we were talking about recently at a Father’s House service.

Revelation 3:15-16

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarmâ€â€
