Over to Elkton

April 5th, 2006

Last night, we arrived at this house in Elkton, Virginia. We had been meandering all day, hitting different spots on our trip from Williamsburg. It’s a nice little house here in a ski area. Of course, it’s not really skiing weather, but I really like the layout of these types of houses. And, by the way, it’s much nicer to be in a house instead of a hotel room. :-)

It’s actually the perfect area, as there is a nearby Golden Corral, Shoney’s and Cici’s. I’m thinking it’s a good thing that we’re not going to have too much idle time in this area. I’ve already eaten more than enough food, and I’m needing to do a little bit of damage control. :-) It’s not that bad, but when travelling it sure is more difficult to eat healthy and reasonably.

Well, tomorrow morning, a few of us are planning to take off for Chappaqua, New York, which is about 30 or 40 miles north of New York City. There’s a depo in Chappaqua, and it looks like tomorrow evening we’ll be able to drop in on Shea Stadium to catch the Nationals/Mets game.

We’re about to take off to take a day trip. We hope to visit Appomattox Courthouse, which is where the Civil War ended, and we also are planning to take a drive along Skyline Drive, which is supposed to be a gorgeous parkway going through the Shenandoah Valley. Mom and Dad visited this area recently, and they keep raving about the beauty seen on that road. I’m anxious to see it!
