The Softball Classic approaches…
Things are starting to get really interesting.
We’re less than three weeks away from the Softball Classic, and things are heating up. We just got 12,000 flyers printed at Kinko’s, and this week we’re going to be picking up 160 signs that will be hammered into the ground all over the area. In addition to that, it won’t be long until a camera crew for TLC is going to be shadowing us for a documentary they’ll be doing on the family and the Classic. So… interesting times ahead.
If you would, please keep our family in your prayers as long as everyone else who is selflessly volunteering their time, making donations, and just helping out in their own way — please pray that God would just be over the whole event and that He would give everyone the strength and energy to do their part. Thanks so much! Oh, and also, please pray that God would just provide us with a beautiful day weather-wise, that it would be free of rain, of storms, and that it would just be very pleasant out.
It’s an exciting time! We’re going to have a great group of guys coming, with Jeff Suppan, Adam Wainwright, and John Rodriguez coming to Laderman Park. And different Cardinals players who can’t make the event have been kind enough to donate memorabilia or autograph baseballs.
Some of the hottest items to this point look to be autographed balls by players such as David Eckstein and an autographed bat and a pair of autographed batting gloves donated by So Taguchi for the event. How kind of these guys to offer to help out for a good cause!
One thing that I don’t want to overlook is the fact that the FOX 2 All-Stars are going to be there again to face us in the softball games! It sounds like Andy Banker, Maurice Drummond, and a lot of other people from the station are going to take the field to square off against our team, the Safe At Home All-Stars. In addition to them, FSN Midwest’s Joel Goldberg is going to be playing for the FOX 2 team. Should be great fun!
